About

William A. Davison is a Canadian multi-disciplinary artist born in Nova Scotia in 1962 and currently living and working in Toronto. He has been producing art for over 30 years, working in visual art, film and video, performance art, music/sound, writing/poetry, networking, artistic collaboration, and organizing/curating. His work has been presented internationally in exhibitions, art fairs and festivals such as Art Basel (Switzerland), The Whitney Biennial (USA), Suoni Per Il Popolo (Canada), and Colour Out Of Space (UK), as well as in various publications such as Rampike (Canada), Vaso Comunicante (Mexico), Alkom X (France), Carousel (Canada), The Walrus (Canada), The Annual (USA), and A Phala 3 (Brazil).

Davison's highly experimental approach and unusually eclectic output is rooted in a thorough exploration of chance, automatism, and various other intuitive, aleatoric, and ludic creative processes inspired largely by the legacy of Dada and Surrealism and situated within the broad historical context of The Fantastic and The Grotesque.

W.A.Davison was a recipient of an Acker Award in 2018.
